Bowel resection 2011 day 1

Kyle, Alan and I are on the plane to Cincinnati Ohio now. The hospital called this morning to tell me that Kyle was going to get a PICC line in the morning. I should have seen it coming. I knew he would need TPN following the resection but it caught me off guard. All my protective instincts went on high alert.

Taking your child voluntarily somewhere like a hospital when they are not in distress is counterintuitive. Especially when you know the only way to achieve better health is by experiencing a lot of pain first.

So tomorrow morning at 7:30 am EST we will be reporting to the hospital for the PICC placement then to the floor for the bowel prep.

Sigh, the first of many unpleasantries in store for us in the next few weeks.
